Top 5 Books as Event Themes

Song for the day: Slow Hands by Niall Horan

Because where did this talent come from?? I love it!

This week’s Top 5 Wednesday is all about books that I think would make good themes for an event or party. The meme was started by Lainey and is now hosted by Sam. You can find out more here.

So here we go.

1// A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R R Martin.

The Life and Tomes | Game of Thrones

I feel like I’m cheating here because I attended a GOT party a couple of years ago and it was AMAZING. My friend baked cakes with all the house crests on, and we had a Joffrey piñata, which was seriously the most fun I’ve ever had hitting a papier-mâché balloon.

Here is a bonus photo of myself and a friend dressed as Ghost and Margery Tyrell at said party.

2// The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

The Life and Tomes | T5W: Books as Event Themes

Just imagine a ballroom draped in black, white and red with a circus-y striped theme and magic shows everywhere. And tents with clocks and clouds and ice… I want this now please.
3// The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore

The Life and Tomes | T5W: Books as Event Themes
The Romeo and Juliet-esque tale of rival circus gangs who appear as mermaids and fairies respectively – how could it not lend itself to a party theme? Pick your team and go!
4// Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol.

The Life and Tomes | T5W: Books as Event Themes

This is probably a very overdone theme but I still love the idea of a Wonderland backdrop! Looking glasses and playing cards everywhere! My undergrad university did this theme for one of its End of Year Balls and honestly it was so magical!

5// Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor

The Life and Tomes | T5W: Books as Event Themes

Ok, so this is technically a podcast, but can you just imagine playing those podcasts as the radio whilst there are five-headed dragons and old ladies in houses and a bowling alley with a secret world underneath it? Just me?
Which books do you think would make amazing party themes?
